It appears Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas could have held the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) Convention and Trade Show in 2016. But that won’t change plans for next year’s IHRSA show.
IHRSA had originally scheduled to hold its show at Mandalay Bay next March, but the association announced last month it will hold the 2016 show in Orlando, Fla. (March 21-24, 2016, at the Orange County Convention Center).
A source told iClubs earlier this year that IHRSA had been concerned about possible construction delays at Mandalay Bay, prompting a change in venue. Mandalay Bay recently announced it will have its first conference attendees in August and will complete its $66 million expansion and renovation project in January 2016.
However, IHRSA spokesperson Meredith Poppler told iClubs the IHRSA show in Orlando is still a go.
“Once we made the decision and made the announcement last month, there was never a thought of not being in Orlando in 2016,” Poppler told iClubs.
This year’s IHRSA show in Los Angeles featured 388 companies and attracted 13,000 industry professionals, including 8,000 convention and trade show attendees from 84 countries, according to IHRSA.
After Orlando, the next two IHRSA shows are set for Los Angeles (March 8-11, 2017) and San Diego (March 21-24, 2018), Poppler confirmed.
The 2016 Athletic Business Conference and Expo also will be held in Orlando (Nov. 17-19, 2016). iClubs is an affiliate of AB Media.
