A 62-year-old man drowned at an LA Fitness club on Saturday night in the Dallas suburb of Lewisville, Texas, according to multiple reports.
The Lewisville Police and Fire Departments responded to a call at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, The Lewisville Texan Journal reported. Two women had been in the pool with the man but did not know him, according to the newspaper. The women had left the pool for less than five minutes, and when they returned, they saw the man at the bottom at the pool.
CPR was administered until paramedics arrived. The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 7:12 p.m.
“When he arrived at the hospital and after they tried to revive him there [they were] unsuccessful,” Police Capt. Kendall Lynn told the newspaper.
The identity of the man has not been released. An autopsy is pending.
NBC DFW reported the club closed for the remainder of the night after the incident. Lewisville is about 25 miles north of Dallas.
This is the third reported drowning at an LA Fitness club in the past 12 months. A 60-year-old man drowned last August at an LA Fitness club in Yorba Linda, Calif. Last March, a 29-year-old man was found dead in a swimming pool at an LA Fitness club in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
